Chicago

After some delays leaving Las Vegas we've arrived in Chicago later than expected at about 9PM. The Lalapolooza festival is on this weekend.  I was hoping to maybe score a ticket for tonight to get in and see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.  I'm also hoping to catch up with my friends Rhys and Vikki who happen to be in Chicago.

There was a massive thunderstorm in Chicago the afternoon which seems to have stuffed up flights.  They've also shut down the Lalapolooza too.  Its hard to believe it rained so much, its been so hot the whole trip. The weather we are having here is much like our Perth summer days. 28-29 degrees with a bit of humidity. We're staying in the Drake hotel which is slightly north of the main financial district and CBD just and borders on the first northern suburb known as the Gold Coast.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas! Its hard to comprehend this place, but its a lot like you would think it could be from what you've seen in the movies and heard by reputation. The mammoth hotels and casinos look like fake cardboard cutouts as you approach the city. They are all amazing constructions. Its been an amazing evolution in only 90 years or something from a whorehouse for Hoover dam workers after the great depression; to the entertainment Goliath it is today.

I'm going to the USA!!  Well I'm here already. I'm in Hollywood.

Don't come to Hollywood..the end.  

Believe everything you hear about it being over-rated and ugly. I didn't have high expectations for LA or Hollywood before getting here.  I always get anxious leading up to travelling anywhere. Its a hard thing to explain.  Its an emotional state that I go into that I've had as early as I can remember travelling anywhere.
