Victorious Danni Stefanetti

Danni Stefanetti's work writing and recording over the past year or so has recognised and rewarded with her winning a 2012 Musicoz award for her song "Victory". While I'm not a fan of pay to enter song or band-battle competitions, previous Musicoz winners have gone on to bigger things. Musicoz are at least putting focus on new independent unsigned artists. Which is sadly lacking today with the "popularity" of reality TV shows as the source for our new music (I won't get side tracked with the tragedy that this has become).

Danni has been working with The Novacaine's producer Alan Brey to record 6 new songs for a new EP. I've listened to these new songs and a few others following Danni as she develops, maybe searching a little with Alan to define her sound and style.

Look Maa No Strings!

AFL football season is back and it it got me thinking about last year and the live TV performance  I was fortunate to be a part of last season.  Fortunate not only to be a part of a music project with great local Perth singer song writer Luke McPharlin, but also to have made it to Channel 9 Melbourne in the first place. Just about everyone feels the nerves and stress. Well I always have. Since playing a "Tom Dooley" trumpet and drum duet with my brother Carlo when I was ten at the "talent showcase", to this very day.  Yep I'm crapping myself up there.

Danni Stefanetti

Danni's new EP "So Real" is getting a good workout in my iPod. This is her 2nd EP written mostly while she was in USA. At only 20 years of age she's already got 4 years Australian and International touring experience under her belt. A self confessed guitar geek, she plays all the guitar tracks on the CD - oh and hand claps too! Two tracks which really stand out for me as great songs are the first and last tracks, "Out of My Reach" and "Haywire". These songs are probably a slight departure from the style and sometimes country feel of Danni's music.

Diesel @ the Fly By Night Club

Mark Lizotte is the greatest singer-songwriter-guitarist of our time!  Yes that's a big statement, but I defy anybody to propose someone who is better?  Someone who is more the complete musician - who can sing, play and write with equal brilliance. As a front man and vocalist his soaring voice could stand on its own.  As a guitarist, effortless and innovative matching it with any "legendary" blues player I've ever seen and listened to. Apart from having hit songs, his writing is melodic, diverse and always interesting.  Who else can put these three elements together?
